Kaiser Bakeware FAQ

Q. What's so special about the La Forme pans that I would get better results than I am getting with the pans I own now?

A. Very simply, when you bake a cake, the La Forme pan contributes to the success of the cake in three major ways:

  • even browning
  • even baking
  • perfect release, resulting in a surface that is perfect for frosting or glazing or even perfect enough for a simple sprinkling of powdered sugar.

Most bakeware will not give you these results. The La Forme pans assure you of perfection every time.

The heavy-gauge metal and dark color of this bakeware promote even heat distribution and overcomes hot spots in your oven. Just like stainless steel cookware, the thicker the pan, the better the heat distribution. The La Forme pans are almost three times the thickness of other bakeware. Additionally, you know that dark colors attract more heat than light colors. Consider, for example, getting into a car that has been parked in the sun. You know that black seats will be much hotter than light-colored ones. The same principle works in your oven; the dark color of the La Forme bakeware results in better heat absorption and conduction, giving you evenly cooked and browned cakes.

The nonstick surface on the interior and exterior of the La Forme pans ensures perfect surfaces even in the most intricate designs. Your cakes will just slide out, pretty as a picture, even without frosting!

Q. Does it take the same amount of time to cook in the La Forme bakeware as in other bakeware?

A. Thanks to the excellent heat distribution due to the heavy gauge and dark color, you can reduce baking time by at least 10%. Do not adjust the cooking temperature.

Q. I'm not much of a baker - strictly the cake mix type. Why would I consider buying one of these expensive pans?

A. You, of all cooks, should have a La Forme pan. Even though you don't make elaborate cakes from scratch, you want your cakes to look beautiful. Without good tools, your baking efforts will result in a very disappointing cake and frustration for yourself. Isn't it worth the little bit extra for a La Forme pan to repeatedly have beautiful desserts without the frustration you now experience?

Q. Does Kaiser provide recipes for the pans?

A. Many Kaiser pans come with recipes included in the box or on the label. You can also use our website to search for recipes or contact us if you would like recipes sent to you.

Q. If the La Forme pans are coated with two layers of a nonstick coating, why must I butter them?

A. There is no nonstick bakeware that does not require butter for a truly perfect release. In addition to that, the butter on the pan promotes even browning and clearly defined lines - an important feature in intricately shaped cakes, such as those baked in the Bundforms, Celebration, and Gateau pans. For best results, we recommend thoroughly brushing melted butter in the pan, then putting it in the freezer for a few minutes while you prepare the batter.

Q. Are the pans dishwasher-safe?

A. La Forme is not dishwasher safe, with the exception of pieces that have the Magnum coating (i.e. bake and roast pans, springform bases). Noblesse is not dishwasher-safe. Classic is not dishwasher-safe. ExtraordinAire is dishwasher-safe. Tinplate is not dishwasher-safe. We recommend that you thoroughly hand-dry all pieces, including those that have been washed in the dishwasher.

Q. What is the highest temperature to use on a Kaiser Bakeware pan?

A. All Kaiser Bakeware pans are safe up to 450 degrees F in the oven.

Q. How long is my pan under warranty?

A. La Forme Plus pans have a 10-year warranty. La Forme pans have a 5-year warranty. Noblesse and ExtraordinAire pans have a 3-year warranty. Classic pans have a 1-year warranty. Tinplate is not under warranty. The springform buckles on our La Forme, Noblesse, Classic and Tinplate lines all have a lifetime warranty, something that you will not find with other manufacturers.

Q. What should I do if my pan is damaged or defective?

A. Please call Kaiser's customer service department at . If the pan has not been abused, we will replace it for you. Customer service will provide you with a return authorization number and our mailing address so that you can send the pan back to us. Once we receive the return, we will ship a new pan to you. Kaiser Bakeware must approve all returns prior to shipment. Returns without a return authorization number on the box will be refused.

Q. Where can I buy Kaiser bakeware?

A. Kaiser Bakeware is available at many department stores, specialty stores, and online retailers located around the country. You can shop online from our Web site as well. Please use our retail store locator to find a retailer near you. If you cannot locate a retailer convenient to you, please contact our customer service department for additional assistance.

Q. My leak proof springform pan leaks.

A. The Kaiser springform pans being leak proof refers to how the base is made. It has a flared rim that extends beyond the ring to collect any batter that may go through and not allow it to run into your oven. The base is also made higher and so fits into the ring for the same purpose.
In this case leak proof does not mean waterproof. Water and watery batters are not recommended for use as this will run through the pan. You will be fine with batters at least as thick as cake mix consistency or thicker.

Q. How do I convert my cake recipe to fit different size pans?

Conversion for 8” springform pan round: If the recipe is for 9” pan, use same ingredients, but bake 5-10 minutes longer as mixture is slightly deeper in pan (serves 12)
Conversion for 10” springform pan (round or square): If recipe is for 8” or 9” pan, use same ingredients, but bake 10 minutes less as mixture is slightly deeper in pan (serves 16)
Conversion for 9x13 springform pan: If recipe is for 8” or 9” pan, make double the recipe and bake 20-30 minutes longer (serves 24)
Conversion for 4.5” mini springform pan: if recipe is written for 8” pan, use same ingredients and back 10-15 minutes shorter time-yields 5 of 4.5” mini springform pans. If recipe is for 9”, use same ingredients and bake 10-15 minutes shorter time. Yields 6 of 4.5” mini springform pans.
